Rihanna was born in Saint Michael, Barbados, and raised in Bridgetown, Barbados, by her parents, Guyanese-born mother Monica (an accountant) and Barbadian-born father Ronald (a warehouse supervisor). Rihanna has two brothers, Rorrey and Rajad, a half-brother named Jamie, and two half-sisters, Kandy and Samantha. Rihanna attended Charles F. Broome Memorial Primary School and Combermere School, as well as high school, which she left to pursue her music career.
Rihanna was in a stormy and hugely publicized relationship with singer Chris Brown from 2007 to 2009, ending in a notorious domestic violence case; the couple rekindled their relationship in 2012 and 2013.
