Zhenia, a Russian-speaking immigrant from the Ukraine enters the lives of the rich residents of a bland, walled off community as a masseur. Despite their wealth, the residents emit an inner sadness, a longing. The mysterious newcomer’s hands heal, his eyes seem to penetrate their souls. To them, his Russian accent sounds like a song from the Communist past, a memory of their seemingly safer childhood. Zhenia is able to change their lives. — Lava Films On a grey, foggy morning, a mysterious figure appears in Warsaw – a man carrying a massage bench. The stranger uses magical hypnosis techniques to obtain a residence permit and offers his services as a masseur in a suburban settlement. The dreary gated community, built in the middle of a former coal field, is sealed off from the “evil” outside world. Somewhere in the distance rise the skyscrapers and construction cranes of a city that wants to become an international hub – the constant catch-up of the East. In the houses of the neighbourhood, which all look the same, live the most diverse representatives of the rich upper class. They seem caught up in an inner sadness, a longing – perhaps for the winter that no longer exists in these latitudes. Unlike themselves in the past, their children no longer build snowmen. But perhaps their emptiness goes deeper? Then the masseur, an attractive man from the authentic East, enters her life. He has a gift: his hands can heal, his eyes look into the soul of the lonely women. For them, his Russian accent sounds like a song from the old days, a peaceful melody from childhood, when all was still right with the world. Zhenia, as he is called, changes their lives.
